Financial Assistance

There are 5 main streams through which IADT students experiencing financial difficulties can avail of assistance.

  1. SUSI, Ireland’s National awarding authority for further and higher education grants. They support eligible students in approved courses at PLC, undergraduate, and postgraduate levels. *More information can be found below.

  2. Student Assistance Fund, operated by IADT’s Access Office, can be availed of by “students in significant financial difficulty.” For more information & to apply, see IADT’s website.

  3. Childcare Subsidy Fund (SU), administered by IADTSU, provides financial assistance to full-time students who have children in registered childcare. *More information can be found below.

  4. Hardship Fund (SU), administered by IADTSU, aims to help students experiencing extreme and sudden financial difficulty through low-amount monetary relief. *More information can be found below.

  5. 1916 Bursary, administered by UCD on behalf of IADT, offers bursaries to “students who are most socio-economically disadvantaged and from groups most under-represented in higher education.” For more information & to apply, see IADT’s website.

How SUSI Works

  1. Submit your application

    Once the Eligibility Indicator suggests that you might be eligible for a student grant, you can then begin your application. First, register an account in the SUSI student portal and then complete the application form and submit it to SUSI for assessment. Starting the application process is simple but make sure you have all information about your circumstances beforehand.

  2. Receive your decision

    Following assessment, you will either receive a letter detailing the outcome of your application or a checklist letter requesting documents to support your application. And remember, you can track the progress of your application in your SUSI student portal.

Childcare Subsidy Fund

Childcare Subsidy Fund is overseen and administered by IADTSU’s Welfare & Equality Officer (welfare@iadtsu.com) and involves IADT’s Access Officer (access@iadt.ie).

The fund can be availed of to cover the cost of childcare for IADT students in full-time education. It can only cover the costs of paid childcare.

As the fund can pay out in large amounts, a significant amount of documentation is required, including records of income and expenditure, for your application to be considered.

The 2024 closing date is Thursday October 31st at 5pm. Applications will reopen for the second semester in 2025.

Hardship Fund is administered by IADTSU’s Welfare & Equality Officer.

The fund exists to help students experiencing extreme and sudden financial difficulty that is impeding their academic and personal lives.

The Hardship Fund is limited to €100 per student, per term.

A student can avail of the hardship fund twice a year, for up to €100 each term.

To apply, you will need to provide a copy of your most recent BANK STATEMENT and a clear image of your STUDENT ID.

This service has very limited funding and we would encourage only those in need to apply.
