Accomodation
IADTSU operates IADT Student Pad, the official accommodation website for IADT students to search for accommodation.
To get set up with an account, read this guide.
IADT has no purpose-built student housing, so one of the main ways people live near the college is in “Digs,” where the renter pays for a single room/shared facilities in the landlord’s own home.
For more information, visit IADT’s website, which offers best practice when searching for student accommodation and tips for staying safe.
If you are experiencing trouble with housing, contact welfare@iadtsu.com for assistance.
Advice for Finding A Place
The accommodation crisis in Dublin is a serious problem which students are experiencing some of the worst consequences of. IADTSU’s avenues for assisting students finding somewhere to stay is unfortunately very limited.
However, here are some tips we have put together for finding housing that may help your search:
Always start looking as early as possible! Lock in your stay months in advance if you can.
Check every day on StudentPad and other accommodation listing websites. New properties are uploaded on a regular basis. If using a 3rd party accommodation website, some have phone/email notifications that you can turn on.
Be careful of scammers! Always do a viewing before you send a deposit, and be very sceptical of landlords listing off sites like Facebook.
When contacting landlords, always try and ring them on the phone instead of texting/emailing, as they are more likely to respond and faster.
Even when exclusively searching for 7-day digs due to being unable to return home on weekends, we recommend contacting 5-day stays anyways, especially if you are an Erasmus Student only staying for 1 term, as they may be open to changing their mind.
If you have a higher budget, IADTSU keeps a record of information on landlords whose listings exceed our rent caps (€800p/m for 7-day digs, €600 for 5-day) and we had to reject from the StudentPad website. Contact studentaccommodation@iadt.ie if you’re interested.
Outside of IADT StudentPad, there are 3rd party unofficial property listing websites available. These are not verified by IADTSU and we have no control over them, their landlords, or their pricing. See links on IADT’s website.
Ask absolutely everyone you know locally or studying in IADT, parents or family friends, if they know anyone hosting digs or looking for a roommate. Post on your story, message into groupchats - use word of mouth to your advantage.
Ask students Graduating from IADT or previous Erasmus students if they or anyone they know is giving up their room.
If you have nowhere to stay when classes begin or need to be physically present for viewings/etc., short term stays in hostels/hotels might be needed. Contact studentaccommodation@iadt.ie to see if we know anywhere with special student rates.
