Setting up a Club or Society

CLUBS AND SOCIETIES APPLICATIONS FOR 24/25 ARE NOW OPEN. CLICK HERE TO APPLY
Applications will close 10am on Wednesday 9th of October 2024

As Clubs & Societies are financed using student money, a certain level of accountability and supporting documentation is required to ensure that the public funds are allocated responsibly.

However, running a Club or Society is a great way to make friends, get experience in practical skills, and engage in hobbies that would normally be restrictively expensive.

Before you get started, make sure your idea doesn’t already exist by checking the list of Active Clubs & Societies.

All spending using Clubs & Societies budgets must be tracked or funding may be revoked.

Contact the Clubs & Socs Officer at clubsocs@iadtsu.com for help or with any queries.

Requirements for Setup

If you are starting a new club or society or continuing an old one, you will need:

* An application with less than 25 signatures on the interest form will be automatically rejected. Funding allocation will be weighed towards clubs and societies with greater initial interest and engagement.

If you are a pre-existing society re-applying for funding, you will also need:

  • Previous academic year’s report, including work carried out during year and role of committee members

  • Previous year’s spending accounts, including budget allocated, all transactions, and total amount spent

  • Previous year’s budget proposal

All documents can be uploaded as part of the application form.

As per the Mandatory Recording of Clubs & Societies Account Information policy passed by Comhairle, logins for social media and email accounts must also be provided to IADT Students’ Union to be stored. You can request your Mandatory Information Form from clubsocs@iadtsu.com.

At least 3 committee members for each Club/Society must attend Mandatory Consent Training.
